#8 Starter: Nathan Schneider, Waynesboro

Nathan Schneider

Our 8th best starter in the 2018 Valley League season also travelled a long way to the Valley, and is the first of several Generals on this list.

Nathan Schneider, from San Dimas, California, and attending Saint Mary’s College of California, was outstanding for the Generals. Here are his stats:

Way ERA W L G GS IP H R ER BB K BAVG WHIP BB/9 K/9
2018 3.00 2 0 7 5 33.0 25 13 11 8 28 0.202 1.000 2.2 7.6
Play 13.50 0 0 1 1 2.7 5 4 4 2 2 0.385 2.593 6.7 6.7

For pitchers on this list, he finished tied for 8th in batting average against, tied for 4th in WHIP, and 5th in BB/9. He threw 5 shutout, no-hit innings in Staunton on June 20th, while allowing 1 walk and striking out 3…. in only 44 pitches! Quite the efficient effort. He was the pitcher of the day that day, too.

The 6-foot-2, 205 pound sophomore didn’t pitch very much in his freshman year, but did pretty well all the same:

SM ERA W L G GS IP H R ER BB K WHIP BB/9 K/9
2018 0.00 1 0 7 0 13.7 6 1 0 10 12 1.168 6.6 7.9

As you can see, he was quite difficult to hit, but that BB/9 was a bit high. Watch for a huge improvement for Nathan in 2019!
