Our 12th best reliever in the 2018 Valley League season, Long Island’s Rob Griswold, was one of a handful of players in the Valley each year who both hit and pitch. According to the league’s media representatives, Rob did it better than anyone else, having been voted first team All-Valley at the utility position.
Here is what Rob did for Front Royal on the mound last summer:
Of pitchers on this top relievers list, Rob finished 7th in ERA, 6th in WHIP, and 6th in BB/9. As you can tell from the photos below, he also represented Front Royal in the All-Star game by pitching an inning. He was a force at the plate as well, slashing 367/508/429 in 49 at-bats.
Rob is currently a junior at Long Island:
Rob did not pitch in 2017, but he batted 26 times that year, and had 46 at-bats in 2018.
Congratulations on your excellent summer, Rob!
