Teammates both in college and with Front Royal last summer, Piedmont’s Brady Ballstadt and Andrew Burden, both seniors, are off to quick starts after five early season games.

Last summer, Burden was the league’s 4th best hitter after a 385/452/615 performance in 135 at-bats… and he also won the league’s home run derby at the all-star game. Ballstadt was also very good- he slashed 291/381/470 in 134 at-bats, and then went 5-9 in the playoffs.

In their current college season, Ballstadt is hitting 381/458/667 in 21 at-bats, with 5 runs, 6 RBIs, a double, triple, and inside-the-park home run, and a 3/3 BB/K ratio. Burden is hitting 318/348/545 in 22 at-bats, with 6 runs, 8 RBIs, and a triple and home run.

Both players will be in action this afternoon, when Piedmont starts the “Piedmont College Early Spring Classic.”
