Former Front Royal Cardinal Erne Valdes (2016) has been relased by the Texas Rangers.
According to ATVL the best starter in the league back in ’16, Valdes ripped through the league yhat summer, finishing 2-1, 1.03, with a 0.836 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9, and 11.7 K/9 in 34 2/3 innings.
The lefty from St. Thomas was undrafted after his college season, but was signed in the summer of 2018 by the Texas Rangers. Assigned to Texas’ rookie-level team in the Arizona League, Erne went 1-2, 3.86, with a 1.04 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9, and 13.5 K/9 in 28 innings. He struck out 42 batters in those 28 innings.. and still got released.
