Former three-time Luray Wrangler Drew Rucinski (2008-2010) has signed a monster contract to pitch in Korea this year.
I missed it when the deal was announced back in December (thanks, Buck, for the heads-up), but Drew has signed with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) for the maximum contract allowed to a first-year foreign player- $1 million!
Drew was a non-drafted free agent out of Ohio State when he signed with the Cleveland Indians back in 2011, and worked his way up to the majors with the Los Angeles Angels in 2014 and 2015, and pitched in Minnesota in 2017 and Miami in 2018. Drew had his best season in the majors last year with the Marlins, going 4-2, 4.33, with a 1.330 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9, and 6.9 K/9 in 35 1/3 innings pitched. The Dinos plan on using him in their rotation.
Congratulations, Drew!
