Two former Valley Leaguers- Kieton Rivers (Strasburg 2018) and Raymond Gil (Winchester 2018)- currently playing at the Division-I level, hit two home runs yesterday. Both are hitting very, very well- let’s take a look:
- Rivers, a senior at Coastal Carolina, went 2-3 yesterday against UNC Wilmington, with 2 home runs, 3 runs, and 5 RBIs. Overall, he’s hitting 378/486/656, with 29 runs, 33 RBIs, 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs in 90 at-bats. He leads the team in slugging percentage, triples, and RBIs. He has to be drafted this June, right?
- Gil went 3-4 against Florida Atlantic, with 3 runs, 5 RBIs, a walk, and 2 home runs. A true sophomore at Miami, Gil is hitting 371/423/674 in 89 at-bats, with 16 runs, 17 RBIs, 6 doubles, and 7 home runs. He leads the Hurricanes in batting average, slugging percentage, and hits. Already drafted in 2017 (but obviously didn’t sign), Gil will have to wait until 2020 to be eligible for the draft.
- Dupree Hart (Charlottesville 2016) had 4 hits for Charleston yesterday in 5 at-bats, with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases.
- Dominic Canzone (Front Royal 2017) went 3-5 yesterday against Toledo, with 2 runs, 4 RBIs, a home run, and a stolen base. Canzone has been moved to the leadoff spot in the Buckeye’s lineup.
