Spotlight on Szamski, Dixon, and Koehler

On Friday we had amazing pitching performances by former Valley Leaguers. Saturday, though, was a different story- it was the hitters who shined.

The spotlight for today will be on three hitters, all redshirt seniors, who had monster games yesterday:

  • Radford’s Andy Szamski (Staunton 2015-16, Purcellville 2017) had the best day of all, going 6-6, with 3 runs, 8 RBIs, 2 doubles, and 2 home runs. He’s now hitting 388/458/650 in 103 at-bats, with 26 runs, 31 RBIs, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, a solid 13/16 BB/K ratio, and even 3 stolen bases. He leads his team in batting average, on-base percentage, runs, hits, doubles, home runs, and RBIs.
  • Charleston’s Brad Dixon (Strasburg 2015-16) went 4-5 against Hofstra in game 2 of their doubleheader, with 2 runs, 5 RBIs, and 2 doubles. He’s now hitting 311/408/377, with 17 runs, 7 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases.
  • Last but not least, Western Carolina’s Matt Koehler (Woodstock 2015, Purcellville 2018) went 4-6, with 3 runs, 5 RBIs, 2 doubles, a home run, and a walk. He’s now at 361/470/663, with 22 runs, 17 RBIs, 5 doubles, 4 triples, 4 home runs, and a solid 12/17 BB/K ratio.

Great job, guys!
