This Friday, April 5th, JMU is hosting “Valley League Night” as the baseball team takes on the College of Charleston.
Slated to begin at 6 PM, the night will include promotions for the start of the 2019 Valley League season (schedule starts May 31st), and Coach Bob Wease, the face of the Harrisonburg Turks and 2016 Valley League Hall of Fame inductee, will throw out the first pitch.
Both teams have multiple players who have had experience in the VBL. JMU has seven such players, including sophomores Justin Showalter (Staunton 2018) and Josh Jones (Harrisonburg 2018), juniors Davonn Griffin (Strasburg 2018) and Kyle Hayes (Purcellville 2018), and seniors Christian Bourne (Harrisonburg 2016, Charlottesville 2017), Matt Marsili (Purcellville 2018), and Garrett Richards (Strasburg 2016, Purcellville 2018).
The College of Charleston has nine former VBLers, including juniors Ari Sechopoulos (Charlottesville 2017) and Austin George (New Market 2018), and then a slew of seniors: Bradley Dixon (Strasburg 2015-16), Dupree Hart (Charlottesville 2016), Danny Wondrack (Charlottesville 2016), Clay Hunt (Front Royal 2016), Luke Manzo (New Market 2016), Joey Mundy (Front Royal 2016), and Seth Wall (Winchester 2017).
