Spotlight on Perkins, Orzel

Today we’ll take a closer look at South Alabama’s Carter Perkins (Front Royal 2017) and Wofford’s Andrew Orzel (Waynesboro 2018), plus some others who performed well on Tuesday!

  • Perkins had a dynamite doubleheader yesterday, going a combined 5-6, with 4 runs scored, a double, 3 walks, and 7 RBIs. For the season now, he’s hitting 285/393/314 in 137 at-bats, with 21 runs, 4 doubles, 29 RBIs, and a solid 23/29 BB/K ratio. Carter is a finalist for the Buster Posey Catcher of the Year Award (post coming in about a week).
  • Orzel went 3-5, with 2 runs, 2 doubles, a home run, and 4 RBIs yesterday. He’s now hitting 253/353/371, with 43 runs, 14 doubles, 2 home runs, 30 RBIs, a 20/27 BB/K ratio, and 14 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
