Thanks in part to the red-hot bat of Kieton Rivers, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers won their second Sun Belt Conference championship yesterday and advanced to College World Series Regional play.
Rivers, who played in the Valley League in 2018 for the Strasburg Express, had two home runs in Coastal’s clinching game, his second multi-home run game in his last three (and fourth of the season). Rivers drove in four runs with the two blasts, helping Coastal defeat Georgia Southern, 9-7.
Rivers was understandably named the Most Outstanding Player in the Sun Belt Tournament, and is now hitting 327/429/600, with 15 doubles, 3 triples, 13 home runs, 64 RBIs, and even 10 stolen bases. The senior’s college career isn’t over yet, however; the College Regional matchups will be released later today… and then the draft rolls around in early June….
