Exactly one week ago, a group of Houston Astros pitchers threw a combined no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners.
Aaron Sanchez, who threw the first six innings, got the most attention, rightfully so, as it was his first start with the Astros since being traded to the team from the Blue Jays. However, for our purposes here at ATVL, the focus is on the pitchers who threw the seventh and ninth innings, as they are alumni of the Valley League.
First of all, Will Harris (Staunton 2003) pitched a no-hit seventh inning while walking one. Harris has been quite good in 2019; he’s 3-1, 1.67, with a 1.09 WHIP in 43 innings pitched.
And then Chris Devenski (Woodstock 2011) finished off the ninth. He’s 2-0, 4.24, with a 1.22 WHIP in 51 innings pitched in the majors this year.
Congrats to both players!
