Vinnie Pasquantino, a first baseman from Old Dominion, was quite good for Charlottesville in 2017; in fact, ATVL named him the 13th best hitter in the entire league, along with the comment “the future looks bright for him.”
Well, it seems the future is NOW. Pasquantino was drafted this June in the 11th round by the Kansas City Royals, and the organization assigned him to Rookie-level Burlington in the Appalachian League.
On August 3rd, he was hitting .229/.316/.511. After that, though, he’s been crushing the ball. In his last 34 at-bats, starting on August 4th, Pasquantino has 17 hits, nine runs scored, five doubles, two triples, a home run, and seven RBIs. He’s raised his slash line all the way to .285/.366/.582.
Last night, in fact, he went a crazy 5-5, with two runs scored, two doubles, two triples, and two RBIs in Burlington’s 8-1 victory over Greeneville. (Luke Berryhill (Purcellville 2018) was the opposing catcher, by the way).
Keep it up, Vinnie!
