Three former Valley Leaguers, all of them Staunton Braves, have been honored for excellent 2019 minor league seasons.
- Nate Pearson (Staunton 2016) was named Toronto’s pitching prospect of the year by MLB Pipeline.
- Thad Ward (Staunton 2016) was named Boston’s pitching prospect of the year by MLB Pipeline.
- Tyler Zombro (Staunton 2014) was named Tampa Bay’s relief pitcher of the year by the Rays’ organization.
Ward and Pearson were teammates, albeit briefly, in 2016- Ward appeared in nine games, while Pearson appeared in only one. Zombro appeared in 10 games in 2014.
Quite a feather for Staunton’s cap!
