Our 13th best starter in he 2019 Valley League season, and second Strasburg Express already, is Alabama’s Dylan Oliver.

Oliver, a 5-foot-10 lefthanded senior, put up the following stats in the bandbox that is First Bank Park:

The playoff appearances did not go so well, but in the regular season (and among pitchers considerd for this list), Oliver finished fourth in innings pitched, third in BB/9, and ninth in K/9.

His two best starts were on June 6, at Covington, when he threw five innings and allowed four hits, one run, one walk, and struck out six, and on July 23, against New Market, when he threw six innings and allowed three hits, one run, two walks, and struck out three. He did not get a decision in either game.

He spent 2017 and 2018 in the Alabama Community College Conference at Marion Military Institute, and 2019 at Alabama. He made the Dean’s List in both 2017 and 2018 as well.

Hopefully Oliver will get some more time on the mound this spring in Tuscaloosa!
