The seventh best starter in the 2019 Valley League season, Front Royal’s Shane Scott, is a 6-foot-1, 215 pound workhorse.

And not only did he soak up innings for the Cardinals, but the Arkansas Tech junior threw exceedingly well, too:

FR ERA W L G GS IP H R ER BB K BAVG WIP BB/9 K/9
2019 2.43 3 1 8 6 44.3 44 18 12 13 27 0.250 1.287 2.6 5.5

Among pitchers considered for this list, he finished sixth in ERA, first in innings pitched, and fifth in BB/9.

He threw the second best start of the entire summer on June 28 against Winchester, when he threw nine shutout innings, allowing five hits, one walk, and striking out seven. He earned a win and a game score of 83, just two points behind the best start of the summer (coming later on this list).

He was also excellent on June 12 at Waynesboro, when he earned the win after going seven innings and allowing four hits, one earned run, three walks, and striking out five. He was honored as a midseason All-Star, and was named first team All-Valley after the season.

Scott spent his first two college seasons at Fort Scott Community College, where he put up the following stats:

ERA W L G GS IP H R ER BB K WHIP BB/9 K/9
2018 3.86 5 1 13 7 44.3 44 28 19 18 36 1.400 3.7 7.3
2019 4.89 7 4 12 12 57.0 61 43 31 20 55 1.421 3.2 8.7

He has transferred from Fort Scott to Arkansas Tech, where he will no doubt anchor the starting rotation.
