The ninth best reliever in the 2019 Valley League season is Woodstock’s Brandon Haggerty, from York College (of Pennsylvania).

The six-foot lefty was a crucial cog in the Woodstock machine, pitching almost 30 innings with very good stats in the regualr season, and then added 5 2/3 in the playoffs for good measure:

ERA W L G SV IP H R ER BB K BAVG WIP BB/9 K/9
2019 2.63 0 0 12 0 27.3 24 13 8 7 22 0.229 1.136 2.3 7.3
Play 1.58 1 0 2 0 5.7 5 1 1 0 2 0.250 0.877 0.0 3.2

For pitchers considered for this list, he finished fifth in innings pitched, ninth in WHIP, and fourth in BB/9.

On June 19 (his second appearance), after giving up five runs (four earned) in 1/3 of an inning, his ERA was an unsightly 12.46. But then he went the next 23 innings allowing only 15 hits, eight runs (four earned), and six walks while striking out 23. He earned Coach Bocock’s trust, and was named to start a playoff game.

The finance major has also improved a ton from his freshman year in college to his sophomore season:

ERA W L G SV IP H R ER BB K WHIP BB/9 K/9
2018 6.84 4 0 9 0 26.3 28 23 20 22 33 1.901 7.5 11.3
2019 3.63 4 4 8 0 44.7 40 22 18 15 40 1.230 3.0 8.1

Watch for another bump in performance for Brandon next spring!
