Bubbie Buzachero, former Staunton Brave (2000-2001) and minor league pitcher, passed away Friday, February 7th, at the age of 38.
Buzachero attended college at Tennessee Tech, and was picked in the 23rd round of the major league draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2002. He pitched professionally through 2012, reaching Triple-A in parts of four seasons: 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. He spent time pitching in Puerto Rico in parts of two offseasons, and in Melbourne of the Australian Baseball League in 2011 and 2012. He did not pitch in the major leagues.
He finished his minor league career with a 38-29 record, with a 3.76 ERA, 70 saves, a 1.284 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9, and 7.7 K/9 in 612 1/3 innings.
He is remembered as a fun person to have as a teammate.
Cause of death is not known at this time.
