Former New Market Rebel Jason Hinchman (2018), a junior at Tennessee Tech, has gone crazy in his first three games of the 2020 college season.
Already considered by some to be the preseason Player of the Year in the Ohio Valley Conference (Baseball America), and by others one of the best sluggers in all of college baseball (D-I Baseball), Hinchman is off to one of the best starts I’ve ever seen.
In his first three games for the Golden Eagles, all against Evansville, Hinchman is an absurd 9-13, with seven runs scored, five home runs, seven RBIs, and even two stolen bases. He’s slashing .692/.692/1.846. Well then.
Oh, and by the way, one of his five home runs was a walk-off blast in the bottom of the ninth on Sunday- his THIRD home run of the day.
In his freshman year, Hinchman hit .219/.342/.531 in only 32 at-bats. He burst onto the scene in 2019, hitting .278/.420/.697 in 198 at-bats, with 11 doubles and 24 home runs.
He’s well on his way to another outstanding year!

Wow! Hinchman turned a groove into a crater – meteorite!
