The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has released its preseason “Stopper Watch List,” a list of the top 70 relievers in college baseball heading into the 2020 season. The award is given to the top reliever in D-I baseball.

Five former Valley Leaguers have been named to the intial list. They are:

  • Hayden Harris (Front Royal 2018), Georgia Southern: last year he went 3-1, 3.24, 8 saves, 51 K’s in 50 innings
  • Trey Braithwaite (Winchester 2019), Navy: 1-2, 3.10, 10 saves, 33 K’s, 29 innings pitched
  • Carson Spiers (Charlottesville 2017), Clemson: 2-5, 3.59, 11 saves, 44 K’s in 47 2/3 innings
  • Will Wheeler (Purcellville 2018), USC Upstate: 4-3, 1.85, 4 saves, 60 K’s in 39 innings
  • Corley Woods (Staunton 2017), Jacksonville State: 7-0, 2.27, 2 saves, 23 K’s in 43 2/3 innings
