Hitter of the Day

On June 5, 2015, Front Royal’s Chase Lunceford went 4-6, with a run, home run, and five RBIs against Aldie (FR won, 12-0). The shortstop from Louisiana Tech hit .304/.386/.405 in 148 at-bats that summer, with nine doubles and two home runs. Lunceford played for two seasons at Hinds CC and two at Louisiana Tech. He hit a total of .287/.394/.529 in 414 at-bats at Tech, with 20 doubles, four triples, 24 home runs, 104 RBIs, and a 55/89 BB/K ratio. He did not go on to play pro ball.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 5, 2013, Front Royal’s Dalton Potts threw a complete game shutout (read that again- a complete game shutout!) against Charles Town, allowing only three hits, no walks, and struck out six in the Cardinal’s 2-0 win. Potts went on to go 2-5, 3.02 in 47 2/3 innings that summer, with only 16 walks and 43 strikeouts. He was a four-year player at Tennessee Tech, where he went a total of 5-17, 7.91 in 158 1/3 innings. He did not go on to pro ball.
