Hitter of the Day

On June 11, 2019, Winchester’s Jimmy Goldmith, from Radford, went 5-6 against Woodstock, with five runs scored, a home run, and six RBIs (The Royals won the game, 20-5). In 22 games and 76 at-bats (he left early due to a hamstring injury), Goldsmith hit .382/.495/.500, with 15 runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, 20 RBIs, and an even 12/12 BB/K ratio. He only received 15 at-bats this spring at Radford.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 11, 2013, Harrisonburg’s Justin Camp threw a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit, three walks, and striking out eight- it was one of the best starts that summer. He was ATVL’s 3rd best starter after putting up these numbers: 6-1, 1.37, with a 0.831 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9, and 6.9 K/9 in 59 innings. After four years at Auburn, Camp was picked in the 37th round of the 2016 draft by the Kansas City Royals. He pitched in the minors for three years, topping out in Triple-A (for one game) in 2018. In pro ball, he went 3-7, 2.79, with a 1.27 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9, and 7.7 K/9 in 142 1/3 innings.
