Hitter of the Day
On June 17, 2013, Strasburg’s Jordan Tarsovich went 3-3 against Charles Town in the Express’ 6-3 win, with three runs scored, a walk, double, triple, and stolen base. From VMI, Tarsovich ended up with the MVP award that summer, and was drafted by the Dodgers after the 2015 college season. He played three seasons in the minors.
Pitcher of the Day
On June 17, 2016, Harrisonburg’s Corey Childress threw eight shutout innings against Charlottesville, while allowing seven hits, zero walks, and striking out five to earn the win. The righthander from Troy finished the summer as the 6th best starter in the league, but did not play pro ball when his college career ended.
