I’m thrilled that the major leagues are playing again… can you tell? Let’s take a very quick look at the four former Valley Leaguers who appeared in a game on Friday, April 2:
- Ryan Yarbrough (Luray 2012), Tampa Bay: Threw 5 2/3 shutout innings against Miami, allowing four hits, no walks, and striking out three. He did not get a decision, but this was an excellent start.
- Emilio Pagan (Harrisonburg 2010), San Diego: One perfect inning, and he got the win for the Padres- putting him at 2-0 after two games. Hmmm, seems to be on pace for a 162-0 season, which would set many, many records.
- Nick Margevicius (Staunton 2015), Seattle: Threw a perfect ninth inning with the Mariners down, 6-3.
- Tommy La Stella (Haymarket 2009), San Francisco: Pinch hit in the 7th inning and grounded out.
Not a bad day! 7 2/3 shutout innings, four hits, no walks, three K’s, one win. 0-1 at the plate.
