Someone told me today that the weather in the Shenandoah Valley should be clear for the next ten days or so…. and we need some dry days if we’re going to make it through this schedule. Sunday, though, was not very dry…

Hitter of the Day

For his combined effort in both games last night, our HOD is Winchester’s Austin Bulman, a junior at Rice. Bulman went a combined 4-7, with two runs, a walk, home run, and four RBIs for the Royals. He is off to a quick start this summer, hitting .360/.393/.600 in 25 at-bats so far, with five runs, two home runs, and 11 RBIs. He has an RBI in each of his six games played so far.

Pitcher of the Day

Our POD is pretty clearly Staunton’s Reid Celata, a junior at UMBC, who threw a complete game shutout in game one of Staunton’s doubleheader at Purcellville. Needing only 90 pitches to complete the effort, Celata allowed only four hits, walked one, and struck out four to earn the win. His game score was 72, the highest of the day. Celata is now 1-0, 2.45, with seven K’s in 11 innings this summer.
