  • New Market 18, Purcellville 4- Has anyone else noticed how many runs New Market has scored lately? On Tuesday, the team lost 14-2. Wednesday: 12 runs. Thursday: 7 runs. Friday: 15 runs. Saturday: 18 (!!) runs. That’s 52 runs in four games- this offense is rolling.

Hitter of the Day

In a pretty easy choice for once, the hitter of the day is New Market’s Jackson Lancaster, from Missouri. Lancaster went 4-4 last night, with two runs scored, a walk, triple, home run, stolen base, and five RBIs. He’s now hitting .423/.516/.808 in 26 summer at-bats, with seven runs, two triples, two home runs, eight RBIs, and 4/2 BB/K. Not to give too much away, but there will be some more honors coming Lancaster’s way today….

Pitcher of the Day

The pitcher of the day is Front Royal’s Salvatore Ferro, from Long Island. Ferro threw three shutout innings against Woodstock, allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out six. It was his third appearance this summer; he’s 0-0, 2.00, with 13 strikeouts in nine innings pitched.
