Five games were played last night! We’ve had a run of wonderful, mild weather the past couple weeks. All games that were rained out have been rescheduled, and things are on target this summer. It’s supposed to get warmer next week, but not much rain is in the forecast. (This is me seeing if my words will effect the weather, you know, like Zeus or Thor. (Take THAT, Joe Deck and your driving your car like Apollo driving his chariot!))

Hitter of the Day
Our hitter of the day is Woodstock’s Marco Martinez, from Pasadena CC! Martinez went 3-5, with two runs, two RBIs, a double, and a home run. He’s quietly putting together an outstanding summer- in 44 at-bats, he’s hitting .386/.534/.682, with 15 runs scored, four doubles, three home runs, seven RBIs, and a solid 14/17 BB/K ratio. He’s been on base in every single game he’s appeared in this summer!

Pitcher of the Day
Our POD is Staunton’s Chris Widger, from Rowan College of Gloucester, who shut out the Charlottesville lineup over six innings last night while allowing four hits, walking three, and striking out two. He earned the win and a Game Score of 63, the highest of the night. Widger was phenomenal at Rowan this spring- he went 8-0, 1.26, with 37 hits, 10 walks, and 68 K’s in 57 innings pitched, and was named first team All-American in NJCAA Division-III.
