This day went pretty well- I got to watch my daughter play soccer in Leesburg, and then caught a VBL game in Winchester! What could be better?

  • Front Royal 4, Winchester 3- With two outs in the 9th, down two, one man on base, Winchester’s Nate Furman blasted a shot down the right field line…… just foul. Cardinals hang on!

Hitter of the Day

Our hitter of the day is Woodstock’s Willy Escala, from Barry, making his second appearance in this spot. So while he didn’t hit for the natural cycle this time, Escala reached base five times, going 3-4, with three runs scored, two walks, an RBI, and two stolen bases. He’s now hitting .297/.379/.473 in 74 at bats, with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 13 RBIs.

The POD is Harrisonburg’s Logan McClure, from West Virginia Tech! McClure fired six shutout innings while allowing three hits, no walks, and striking out six to earn the win and a game score of 72 against Covington. He’s now 1-0, 1.12 in the VBL summer, with 15 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.
