Result, Hitter and Pitcher of the Day, Saturday July 17

Thunderstorms ripped through the Valley yesterday, wiping out all but one game- and that one started very late!

  • Woodstock at Purcellville PPD
  • Staunton at Harrisonburg PPD
  • Winchester at Strasburg PPD
  • Front Royal 10, New Market 1

Hitter of the Day

Our HOD is none other than Front Royal’s Big Ben Brantley, from Louisiana Tech, who went 2-3 with three runs, two walks, a home run, and three RBIs. Brantley, who competed in the home run derby on All-Star game weekend, is now hitting .242/.377/.525 in 99 at-bats, with seven doubles, seven home runs, 31 RBIs, and a 19/25 BB/K ratio.

  • Samuel Tackett, Front Royal: 0-1, run, RBI, three walks
  • Jack Krause, Front Royal: 0-2, three walks

Pitcher of the Day

Our POD is also from Front Royal- it’s the University of Chicago’s Dylan White. White fired three shutout relief innings while allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out six. He’s now 1-2, 3.06, with a huge 39 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings pitched.

Others of Note

  • Drake Quinn, Front Royal: Four innings, four hits, one run, three walks, five K’s
  • Teddie Nelson, Front Royal: Two innings, one hit, no runs, one walk, one K, win

Tonight’s Games

  • Woodstock at Winchester 3 and 5:30 PM (DH)
  • Strasburg at Purcellville 7 PM
  • Front Royal at New Market 7:30 PM
  • Waynesboro at Harrisonburg 7:30 PM

  1. Others of note that you did not list for Front Royal. Players on the roster that got hits last nite. Tim Mira went 2-5, 1 RBI and scored a run. Trent Jeffcoat went 2-6, 1 run. Ty Gilbert went 1-4 with an RBI and a walk.
Those seem to be more noteable then the ones you listed. Just an FYI.
    Thank you.
