Today we have the 14th best hitter in the 2021 Valley League season, Strasburg’s Brayton Brown!

During the regular season, Brown, from Auburn, hit .289/.388/.533 in 152 at-bats, with 31 runs scored, seven doubles, 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, 19/51 BB/K, and six stolen bases. He finished second in the league in home runs, third in total bases (with 81), fifth in RBIs, fourth in hits, and fifth in runs scored. He went 1-2 with a run, walk, and stolen base in the All-Star game, and was named 2nd team All-Valley League in the outfield at the end of the season. He went 3-5 with two doubles on July 5th at Woodstock; went 4-7 on June 29 against the Bandits, and 3-4, with three runs, two home runs, and five RBIs on June 24th against New Market.

Brown was good during the regular season, sure, but during the playoffs? He might have been the reason the Express won title #3. He had a hit in all six Express playoff games, and overall, in 26 at-bats, hit .308/.455/.654, with nine runs scored, one double, one triple, two more home runs, four RBIs, and an excellent 7/5 BB/K. In fact, in the epic 17-11 Express victory over Winchester in game two of their series, Brown was on base five times, obviously helping to send Strasburg to the finals.

He’s played for two years at Auburn, going 8-30 in 2020 and 5-25 in 2021. Watch for an increased role for him in 2022!
