The top ten hitters in the 2021 Valley League season begin with Charlottesville’s Wyatt Langford, from the University of Florida!

Langford was a outstanding hitter all summer, ending the regular season at .345/.459/.527 in 110 at-bats, with 21 runs scored, 20 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples, three home runs, 20/26 BB/K, and six stolen bases without getting caught. He finished seventh in the league in batting average, fourth in on-base percentage, tenth in OPS, tied for tenth in total bases (58), and tenth in hits. He was an All-Star, and was named second team All-Valley at first base. In the playoffs, he went 1-6 in Charlottesville’s two games, with a double and two walks.

He best day all summer long was on June 27th in a doubleheader against Strasburg, in which he went 5-7, with four runs, a triple, home run, and walk, and drove in two to help his club sweep the eventual champs.

Langford only batted four times as a freshman for Florida, all as a pinch hitter; he recorded one hit. Given his summer performance and the fact that he was Perfect Game’s #144 overall prospect coming out of high school, watch for him to have a larger role soon!
