The 2021 Rookie Level Hitter of the Year is Kyle Battle, who played on the 2017 VBL-title winning Charlottesville team.
Battle was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Yankees after an incredible senior season at Old Dominion in 2021, when he hit .319/.464/.681 in 207 at-bats, with 15 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs, and 56 walks against only 37 strikeouts. The Yankees assigned him to the Florida Complex League in late July, and he proceeded to hit .302/.451/.547 in 53 at-bats, with 16 runs scored, four doubles, three home runs, 15 RBIs, five stolen bases, and 13 walks against 11 strikeouts. In September, he played in three games for Low-A Tampa as well.
