As we’ve already done with the catchers and first basemen, today we’ll take a look at the top second basemen according to D1baseball.com.
Two former Valley Leaguers made the list:
- Cole Foster (Charlottesville 2021) came in at #32 overall. The sophomore from Auburn batted 24 times in 2021, but is expected to play a much larger role this spring. He was the regular shortstop for Charlottesville last summer, and slashed .252/.354/.331 in 127 at-bats, with eight doubles, a triple, eight stolen bases, and 17/30 BB/K.
- Will Prater (Waynesboro 2021) is listed at #44. The senior at Western Carolina has already been named preseason All-Southern Conference after putting up a ridiculous .405/.467/.472 line in 163 at-bats in his junior year. Prater hit .238/.315/.263 in 80 regular-season at-bats for the Generals, with two doubles and seven stolen bases. He turned it on in the playoffs, though, going 10-25 in seven games, with a double, home run, and three stolen bases, helping the club to advance to the finals against Strasburg.
Congrats to both!
