We’re nearing the end of this series, finally! So let’s take a look at the best hitters in Triple-A who have a background in the Valley League.
First, the past winners:
2019- Ryan McBroom (Haymarket 2011-12) |
2018- Tyler White (Haymarket 2010) |
2017- Tyler White (Haymaket 2010) |
2016- Stephen Cardullo (Covington 2007) |
2015- Tyler White (Haymarket 2010) |
2014- Clint Robinson (Harrisonburg 2005-06) |
2013- Eric Campbell (Luray 2006) |
2012- Joey Butler (New Market 2006) |
2011- Collin Cowgill (Covington 2005) |
2010- Yonder Alonso (Luray 2006) |
And, like the pitchers list, every single one of these winners have played in the major leagues.
The 2021 Triple-A Hitter of the Year is, for the fourth time, Tyler White! White, who played for Haymarket in 2010, was excellent for Triple-A Buffalo in 2021, slashing .292/.424/.476 in 353 at-bats, with 54 runs scored, 26 doubles, 13 home runs, 65 RBIs, and an outstanding 80/73 BB/K ratio. White was not called up during the ’21 major league season, and has signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. The universal DH might be rather helpful for him.
