We’re ready for the top five!
The 5th best hitter in the 2015 Valley League season, according to this list, anyway, is Winchester’s Zac Carter!
Carter, from Freed Hardeman University, hit 327/408/497 in 159 at-bats for the Royals. He added 35 runs, 28 RBIs, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, and a solid 14/26 BB/K ratio. Zac also played for Stu Richardson and the Royals in 2014, when he put up 233/281/264 numbers in 129 at-bats. He also went 1-3 with a walk in his team’s “seeding game” in ’15. His best game was on June 16th, at Strasburg, when he went 4-5, with 3 runs, 2 home runs, and 4 RBIs.
Zac originally attended Memphis, but from 2012-2014, he only batted 14 times. Deciding to look for more playing time, Zac transferred to NAIA member Freed Hardeman for the 2015 season, and he had a tremendous year. Overall, in 193 at-bats, Zac hit 347/429/430, with 49 runs, 29 RBIs, 10 doubles, 2 home runs, 15 stolen bases, and a 22/34 BB/K ratio. By those numbers, it looks like Zac made the right choice.
Congratulations on your excellent year, Zac!
