Two out of three seasons isn’t bad; like 2016, this Valley League season saw a UAB hitter perform very well for the Strasburg Express.
Like Carter Pharis before him (4th best hitter in ’16), this year it’s rising junior Colton Schultz, the 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder.
In the league, Colton finished 8th in on-base percentage, 8th in RBIs, 9th in runs scored, and was named 2nd Team All-Valley at designated hitter. He was named the hitter of the day on July 2nd, when he went 4-5, with 3 runs, 2 home runs, and 5 RBIs. He had 3 hits in a game 4 times, and 4 hits once. Here are his stats for the season:
VBL | G | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | K | SB | CS | Avg | OBP | SLG |
2018 | 37 | 125 | 30 | 44 | 7 | 1 | 3 | 30 | 16 | 24 | 6 | 0 | 0.352 | 0.447 | 0.496 |
