Brait, Sudduth Off and Running

Well, not running, but both of these yound men are hitting very well in the young college baseball season.

Alex Brait (Waynesboro 2018), the junior catcher for Florida Gulf Coast, is hitting 353/450/588 after 4 games and 17 at-bats. He’s added 7 runs, 3 RBIs, 1 double, 1 home run, and a 3/2 BB/K ratio. He leads the Eagles in runs and walks. He was ATVL’s 6th best prospect in the 2018 Valley League season, Baseball America’s 8th best preseason draft prospect, and Collegiate Baseball’s preseason All-League catcher in the Atlantic Sun. Catchers who can swing it a little bit from the left side are usually hot commodities in pro baseball- watch for Alex to get a shot to prove himself in pro ball soon!

Chase Sudduth brought his solid bat and sense of humor to the Valley for the New Market Rebels in both 2017 and 2018. For the North Georgia Nighthawks so far this spring, Chase is hitting 351/419/514 in 9 games and 37 at-bats, with 5 runs, 6 RBIs, and 1 double, triple, and home run. He leads his team in hits so far. In the VBL, Chase was the league’s 8th best hitter in 2018 when he slashed 339/479/535, and he juuust missed the top hitters’ list in 2017 after hitting 324/424/465.

Keep it up, guys!

  1. The Rebels family greatly enjoyed Chase Sudduth’s contributions – on and off the field. He has a permanent spot in our legacy file for his walk-off single to cap our 2-out, 4-run rally to top Strasburg, 5-4, in 2017 playoff game 1. In our championship 2018 season we said Chase was nearly “automatic in the clutch.” With great oppo ability he garnered, in 44 games, 55 hits, 40 walks with only 27 Ks, and 40 RBIs.
