Hitter and Pitcher of the Day, Thursday July 11

Storms ripped through the Valley yet again last night, wiping out 75% of the scheduled games. The Winchester Royals hung in there, though, and played their game with Strasburg after a 45-minute delay.

Hitter of the Day

In an easy call, the hitter of the day is Winchester’s John Servello, from Toledo, who went 4-4 with three doubles and three runs scored last night. Needless to say, he was rather important to the Royals’ win. Servello has eight hits in his last 14 at-bats, and overall is hitting .378/.415/.459 in 37 at-bats.

Pitcher of the Day

The pitcher of the day is also a Royal- Kevin Ledford, from Roanoke. Ledford threw three shutout innings while allowing two hits, one walk, and striking out one. This summer, he’s now 1-1, 3.46, with 14 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched. This was his first outing in which he went more than two innings.
