Hitter of the Day

On June 20, 2016, Covington’s Brandon Vicens went 3-3 against Purcellville, with a run, two doubles, a triple, and two RBIs. On his way to Maine, Vicens hit .289/.371/.533 in 90 at-bats for the Jacks that summer. After two seasons at Maine, Vicens was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chicago Cubs. In his one season for them in the minors, so far, he hit .182/.316/.279 in 154 at-bats over two levels.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 20, 2013, Winchester’s Jonathan Ferrendelli fired eight one-hit innings against Covington, allowing one earned run, two walks, and struck out nine. That summer, Ferrendelli went 2-3, 2.29, with a 1.04 WHIP and 58 K’s in 55 innings pitched. After two years at Chandler-Gilbert, he pitched one year for Wichita State and one for Cal State San Bernardino. He has not played pro ball.
