Hitter of the Day

On June 24, 2015, Charlottesville’s Cris Perez hit two home runs in the Tom Sox’s 19-6 thrashing of Strasburg. From Duke, Perez hit .194/.279/.408 in 98 at-bats that summer, with three doubles and six home runs. After his four year collegiate career (three years at Duke; one for USC), he did not play pro ball.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 24, 2017, Woodstock’s Nick Fuchs fired six shutout innings against Purcellville while allowing only three hits, one walk, and striking out nine. Fuchs, at the time from Gannon, ended up going 3-3, 2.72 that summer, with a 1.279 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9, and 11.1 K/9 in 43 innings. He was ATVL’s 5th best starter that summer, and ended things by transferring to Longwood. He spent 2019 and 2020 there, and he has not signed a contract with a pro team as of this writing.
