Today’s matchup!

  • Adam Parks came to Charles Town in 2013 after his freshman year at Liberty. He was ATVL’s 6th best starter that year after putting up a stat line of 4-3, 1.93, with a 0.952 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9, and 9.9 K/9 in 42 innings. His best start was on June 29, 2013, when he fired a seven-inning no-hitter against Woodstock while striking out 13. He returned to Liberty in 2014, and for some reason, just couldn’t get time on the mound… which made it all the more interesting when the Texas Rangers picked him in the 33rd round in the 2014 draft. Parks then embarked on a four-year pro career, going 7-11, 3.16, with a 1.15 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9, and 10.8 K/9 in 162 1/3 innings. I think he had a real shot to make the major leagues, but ran into some injury trouble in 2017.
  • Ramon Miranda came to the Valley all the way from Arizona, as he had just finished his freshman year at Arizona Western. He made five excellent starts for Front Royal that summer, going 4-1, 2.27, with a 0.903 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9, and 11.0 K/9 in 27 2/3 innings pitched (and his batting average against was a miniscule .175). He was named ATVL’s 3rd best starter. Miranda joined Arizona Christian for his junior year in 2020, and appeared in two games covering six innings before the season was cut short.
