Christian McGowan, a 6-foot-2 righthander from Eastern Oklahoma State and Strasburg Express member in 2019, has been named the top prospect in all of Junior College baseball by prepbaseballreport.com.

Reportedly running his fastball up to the high 90’s and sitting at 93-95, McGowan is the leader to be the top 2021 draft pick from junior college. He has a chance to become the highest draft pick in Strasburg Express history, a spot currently held by Zach Peek (2017 Express), who was picked in the 6th round of the 2019 draft by the Los Angeles Angels (and then traded to the Baltimore Orioles).

When McGowan was in the Valley in 2019, he appeared in 12 games, finishing with a line of 2-2, with two saves, a 2.300 WHIP, and 16 walks and 16 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings pitched. For Eastern Oklahoma in 2020, McGowan went 4-0, 3.31, with 14 walks and 58 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings pitched.

Originally planning to attend Kansas State in 2020-2021, given the extra season of eligibility granted by NJCAA, McGowan has decided to return to Eastern Oklahoma for another year.
