Just one day after hitting a home run in South Carolina’s season opener, former Waynesboro General Wes Clarke put up even better numbers in game two against Dayton.
The junior from Forest, Virginia, hit a solo shot in the first inning, an RBI single in the third, and then blasted a three-run homer in the eighth. For the day, he went 3-4, with three runs, five RBIs, and a walk. Not too shabby, eh?
But check out what he’s done in USC’s first two games combined- he’s hitting .857/.900/2.286 in seven at-bats, with six runs scored, a double, three home runs, nine RBIs, three walks, and no strikeouts. Phew.
For Waynesboro in 2019, Clarke was an All-Star, Showcase participant, All-League first team, and, of course, All Things Valley League’s second best hitter.
