Good morning, VBL fans! Today we’ll take a quick look at Nic Beardsley, who is a senior for Point Park, an NAIA school in Pennsylvania. Beardsley played for Winchester in 2018, when he started seven games and went 2-2, 5.68, with 30 K’s in 38 innings.

He went back to school in 2019, but needed Tommy John surgery after just one appearance. But he’s back on the mound!

Let’s see:

  1. He’s currently 7-2, 3.23 after 10 starts (and two relief appearances). He’s struck out a whopping 75 batters in 64 innings pitched.
  2. About a week ago, he was named the 2021 recipient of Point Park’s Don Kelly Award, given to the junior or senior who best “embodies the values, spirit and tradition of being the model student-athlete. Deserving candidates are outstanding representatives of the school and department in the classroom, in the community and in the sport they play.”
  3. He has set the school record for career strikeouts (with 225), and is among the career leaders in wins.
  4. He’s chasing a master’s degree!
  5. He might have the most amazing facial hair that I’ve seen this year.

Congratulations!
