This seems like it might be a little late for the Royals, but former Haymarket Senator (2011-12) Ryan McBroom has been named an organizational All-Star by milb.com.
McBroom hit 32 home runs in 115 games in Triple-A for Kansas City, and earned nine plate appearances in the major leagues. However, the Royals have released him to allow him to sign with Hiroshima Toyo Corp in Japan for $700,000. (Probably a good career move considering what’s happening in MLB at the moment.)
McBroom is one of the most decorated minor league sluggers in VBL history; he’s tied for eighth all-time in minor league home runs (with 134, tied with Erik Kratz) and is 14th with 518 RBIs. (It’s too bad that the minor leagues were shut down in 2020; given his normal production, he could be top three in home runs and top ten in RBIs!)
Good luck overseas, Ryan!
